Thread Together Project Meeting and Training for Volunteers
Our van has been out for its first run to take brand new clothes to clients who have had difficult life experiences and in need of new items in their wardrobe. We will soon be sending out the project handbook to those interested in volunteering.
There is a Project Meeting and training for all interested volunteers Tuesday 1 December, 9:30 am to 11:00 am in the church.
We are planning two more visits to client sites before Christmas on Monday 7 December and Thursday 10 December.
Saturday 5 December at 10:00 am
Ordination of Rev’d Ann as Priest
Due to Covid-19 restrictions numbers will be limited at the ordination, but the event will be live-streamed, so our community will still be able to share in the excitement of the day.
Please pray for Ann as she approaches her ordination as priest.
We would also like to give Ann a gift from the parish in celebration and gratitude for her ministry amongst us. If you would like to contribute to this gift, please transfer funds to our parish account and reference the deposit “Ann’s gift”, or place a cash offering in a marked envelope in the offering plate at the entrance to the church.
Thursday 17 December 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
5:00 – 6:00 pm Creative Care Space
An Open Time of quiet reflection leading into the liturgy
A safe space for individual expression of loss, grief, pain, memories or emotions surrounding Christmas, and this year of Covid. Resources will be available to write, draw, read scripture/poetry, and/or simply take a candle and sit where you feel comfortable around the grounds, or there will be opportunities for individual pastoral conversations before the Blue Christmas Service commences.
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Blue Christmas Service
2020 has been a difficult year for so many people. On top of a global pandemic, there have been natural disasters, personal experiences of bereavement, loss of employment and loss of family networks and contact with loved ones. The Christmas story is not just about joy and family. It speaks to the whole of our lives and our times of loneliness and lament as much as our times of abundant celebration. Come and gather with us for a Blue Christmas: a gentle liturgy of quiet reflection.
Saturday 19 December 9:00 am – 12:00 noon
Advent Quiet Morning
Take time out of the busy lead up to Christmas to spend a few hours with God in prayer, silence and contemplation.
In the midst of a tired and fearful word, we have heard the promise of your steadfast love, your transformative solidarity. May we wait with eager longing for the one thing needed, for the one source that assures. May we be in readiness for your coming, O God. Amen.
